About Us

SHINE was founded by two highly experienced social workers, each bringing over 15 years of dedicated service within the social care sector. Their extensive backgrounds span a broad spectrum of practice areas, including Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hubs (MASH) locality hubs, front-line child protection, children in care, fostering and adoption (corporate parenting), as well as child exploitation and trauma-informed care.

Throughout their careers, they have not only managed complex and high-risk families but have also played pivotal roles in training and mentoring others. Their experience includes supervising countless students and newly qualified social workers, delivering a wide range of training sessions and workshops, and supporting the development of best practices within their teams.

Both founders are known for their calm, composed demeanor even in the most challenging and crisis-driven environments. Their conscientious work ethic, leadership skills, and unwavering commitment to social work have earned them a reputation as natural leaders. They uphold strong core values and demonstrate integrity, resilience, and dedication in all aspects of their work.

Team Behind SHINE Social Work Services

The team behind SHINE Social Work Services brings a wealth of frontline and strategic experience, with an extensive background in statutory social work and Child Protection work. Their careers have involved working with children, families, and professionals on complex and high-risk children and their families, including exploitation, gang involvement, and trauma. With advanced skills in assessment and analysis, they are well-versed in producing high-quality reports for court, child protection conferences, and multi-agency forums. Their relationship-based practice is at the heart of all they do—prioritising empathy, trust, and collaboration to build meaningful and lasting connections with children, parents, and professionals alike.

Their combined experience includes working within Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hubs (MASH), extensive time working in a locality hub, permanency planning through fostering and adoption, and trauma-informed approaches to supporting vulnerable young people. One member of the team also brings leadership experience as a manager in statutory social work, where they have guided and supported social workers through supervision, mentoring, and reflective practice.

Practice Education and Professional Support

Daniella and Naomi are both qualified Practice Educators with extensive experience in supporting social work students, newly qualified practitioners, and experienced social workers. Through their nurturing and empowering approach, they have guided numerous students throughout their placements—many of whom have gone on to secure successful careers in social work and excel during their Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE).

As a team manager, Daniella has taken great pride in mentoring and developing students, providing the guidance, encouragement, and reflective supervision necessary for them to thrive. Both sisters are passionate about creating a supportive learning environment and regularly engage in reflective discussions with practitioners, offering a safe space to explore challenges, build confidence, and develop solutions.

They utilise a range of approaches, including solution circles and other reflective tools, to help practitioners navigate complex situations—whether working with families, professionals, or within multidisciplinary settings. Their commitment to professional development is consistently reflected in the positive feedback received from students, many of whom commend Daniella and Naomi for their encouragement, insight, and unwavering support throughout their learning journey.
